MURCOTTS
Murcotts have been traced back to 1640. 
About the middle of the 17th century a "Manor" in Cubbington was in the hands of the Murcott Family. Abraham Murcott senior, Elizabeth his wife , and Abraham junior  leased a mannor  to Edmund Palmer and William Murcott and in 1667 the younger Abraham and his wife Elizabeth, Andrew and Bridget Murcott and Andrew Palmer leased it to Edward Saunders and John Smith. Abraham  Murcott was appointed high constable of Knightlow Hundred  in 1666 and was generaly active in local goverment about this time particularly  as a viewer of repaired bridges and highways and in 1668 John Murcott was appointed treasurer of the county stock. 
This family was among the principle land owners in Cubbington in 1850.  See family tree..... Home
